An online community for people who have gone through or are going through long term illness and want to share their experiences, expectations, treatment options.

Aims and objectives of Sharecare Ghana
The aims and objectives are to:
• Form support groups for sufferers and their care-givers to
1) Share our feelings, experiences, ideas and information.
2) Learn more about our conditions through getting specialists to give us educational talks,

• Create awareness among the public about these disorders and the disabilities they cause;
• Act as an advocacy group to pressurize local and national health authorities to treat autoimmune and neurological disorders with the seriousness deserved in the national health care delivery system and Advocate for subsidized long-term drug treatment;
• Advocate for patient-centred, integrated health care;
• Initiate research into these conditions and raise funds for research;
• Advocate for proper implementation of the Disability Act of Ghana in conjunction with Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD);
• Network with similar organizations locally and worldwide;
• Host a website for people with long-term illnesses to share their experiences and treatment options.

Current Status
• Members of Sharecare Ghana have been holding meetings to learn from professionals and share experiences.
• The Sharecare Rehabilitation Centre for children with disabilities opened in Osu Anorhor in 2014.
• Funds are still welcome for the Sharecare4u Endowment Fund for Research, Advocacy and Management launched in June 2008.
• Sharecare Ghana is a member of Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations and Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health. Sharecare Ghana is a member of the International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations, based in the UK, and is the Ghana Support Network of the Transverse Myelitis Association based in the US.
