Power cuts

February 28th, 2007 · 10 Comments

What it’s hard to be optimistic about is the power cuts we have one evening every five days. Those are the scheduled ones because the water level of our hydroelectric dam has gone low. The unscheduled ones leave me speechless.
What can one do you do with candlelight or dim battery powered lamps? I can’t even attempt to read, can’t use the beloved computer, don’t even feel like a telephone conversation… Any suggestions?

um, this is going to make me sound like a wee space cadet but get pen and paper and draw all the colours you can see in the candle light
and write down all the words that come to you-

my house has old wireing so bulbs going pop is somthing i m stuck with

other idea is to imagine a tree with singing birds in it and listen to each of therir songs
or just practive tai chi tuan very slowly
or you could meditate upon the gold energy within you

oh gosh i sound like a big freak here don t i

No you’re no freak, carriella… it helped. But can I learn tai chi tuan on line, like all by myself?

hey how about having a section on the sharecare site about eastern form’s both contemplative and ki/chi/qi raising?

and would you like an article upon ‘disability’ and martial arts-

personally Nana i start with hapkido ‘ki’ raising excercises so as breathing patterns before moving on to tai chi tuan [which translates as ‘supreme ultimate boxing’ as tct if done correctly can be bloody exhausting

    sending ki
    sending light
    sending love

    Hi NY

    Ghana Power Cuts

    1. Get a Laptop and a couple of spare batteries-
If you are a Freecell, Scrabble or Sudoku fan, I assure you it will keep your mind from noticing the buzzing mosquitoes, heat and sticky Accra night air. Keep you occupied and eventually very sleepy.

    2. Sprinkle talcum powder all over your bed sheets, it won’t replace air-conditioning but will make you more comfortable.

    3. Have lots of Clothes ironed , accessories for the various oufits in the appropriate handbags for the coming fortnight of Ghana @50 so that you’re not caught out when you get a last minute invite.

Have a really Great time during Ghana@50 and please post some photo’s here for us.

    God Bless and keep well.

Brilliant! Thanks Genne. I’ll be sure to put some Ghana@50 pics up. Happy anniversary all (you all become Ghanaian by affiliation).

oh kool i ve become ghanese by affiliation-

obviously going to celebrate this with-

is there a traditional ghanian drink?

currently in uk i can t imagine any form of national celebration unless thatcher dies or blair resigns or george bush falls down a big hole.

There are several traditional Ghanaian drinks, but I recommend palm wine, which is tapped from palm trees and is not harsh – will not leave you addled.

  • 9 steviel // Mar 3, 2007 at 8:25 pm

well i ve gone for the non-traditional option of santogen tonic wine, benson and hedges cigs,
ramen prawn noodles n garlic and herb pitta bread

oh yeah could you send me some ghanaian posters and i ll get them put up around york-
    well why not-
or maybe some kind of sharecare4yu things
so a bit of the old PRing can be done-

my kid brother ian [the buissness type] actually i ll go and see if hes got any palm wine
    long shot maybe-
but long shots can be made if your laser site is calibrated [priv joke for carri]

oh the martial arts and disability article is being worked on as is one on womens self defense

but i m also writing stuff for the re-launched ‘ritual kiss’ and my lil blog ‘invisible times’

and hopefully putting something together for ‘black poppy’
