The vibrations

February 21st, 2007 · 6 Comments

My friend Dona would tell us about her cousins’ English grandfather who they would find sitting in a room alone listening to classical music with tears streaming down his face. When they asked him why he was crying, he would reply, “the vibrations”.
My vibrations are internal, and they do not reduce me to tears. The doctor says it’s called paresthesias – it’s to do with abnormal nerve sensations. When they started, I would ask whoever I was with if they could see me shaking, or if we were in a parked car, I’d ask if the engine was still on… until I realized only I could feel them.
Probably because of “the vibrations”, I usually wake up with a tune on my mind. This morning it was Stevie Wonder’s ‘I just called to say I love you’. Don’t ask me why, it’s probably just a generational thing; if I was younger it would be some hip-hop tune – that is if they can be called tunes. I thought back to the time when I couldn’t feel anything at all, and thanked God for my “vibrations”.
I hear there are two emotions felt by MSers (people with MS), they are either always depressed or feel elated or positive all the time. If a positive feeling is a symptom of my illness, well, it’s something I don’t quite mind.
Maybe one of these days, I’ll wake up with my own composition and become famous…
So with Dona on my mind today, I’d like those of you who are praying people (or is it prayerful?) to join me in saying one for her. She has been battling illness for a long time.
Thank you.

It came to me much later, “why Stevie Wonder?” I’ve made a new friend called Stevie and have been corresponding the past two days; that must have brought on the song. Here’s to you too, Stevie.

Good to know you wake with good vibes. It’s wonderful to hear a song like that, I would think God was speaking to me. Wow!

Is it the same Dona I know? If it is I spent a whole day over the Christmas period with her, we cooked together chatted laughed about the old days, it was good. By God’s grace she seemed better, although not out of the woods yet. Still praying for her.

Yes Candy, the very same. I’m so happy you spent time with her and she’s better. I think the rest of us should try and be there for her. I’m sure that will help her healing.

    and heres to you nana

i seem to oscilate between feeling plush [ie good] or harsh but ithink it practically depends on how many falls i’ve had that day and if i’ve broken anything
    ie my headphones again
    and again

not an xian myself but will light candles and incense for you and those you care about

on topic of vibrations songs –
    beach boys good vibrations

being aware of sensations that others ar nt whilst at same time being lucid and rational sounds more like being psychic thana medical complaint though
if you could put down a few words about vibrations i know a magazine editor called cathi who’d love to put them in ‘northern oak’ magazine –
shes an mser so will write somthing hopefully for care to share soon –

not a big stevie wonder fan [aside from hotter than july] but tend to get sonic youth or cypress hill stuck on auto-play
    all time get up classics
the boo radleys ‘wake up boo’
    and ‘silver rocket’

just completely forgot what forum i’m writing to

raggas plush music but clubs seem to be ‘my guns bigger than yours’ affairs at least in uk

    blessed be
    merry meet
    merry meet again

the goddess shines in you nana
